Update on The Adjusters #47

This should come as no surprise given the delay on The Adjusters #46, but that delay means that #47 is not quite ready yet. I'm hoping to cross the Ts and dot the Is by this weekend, barring unforeseen eventualities.

The difference between writing #46 and #47 is rather astonishing. Both #44 and #46 were really difficult to write, and I kept making major changes at the revision stage for both of them. Comparatively speaking, #43, #45, and the upcoming #47 are straightforward. It's pretty clear that I'm finding it difficult to write Jenn at the stage she's at, and #44 and #46 have been entirely from Jenn's perspective, with a lot going on, most of it internal. And I find it tough to get it right. In contrast, #43, #45, and #47 are straight-up plot development, with a clear direction. Action versus character, I guess.

I suspect there's a lesson there that I could study, but I'm too zonked to think about it tonight.

I'll leave you with a pair of long stories that I've just discovered, The Chronicles of Rita, and Delia's Story. I have no clue if they're any good, but they seem to be well written, and the setup is certainly intriguing. They take place in a world were slavery is legal again, and they feel very... Gorean in nature, if you allow me the expression. But as I said, I don't know if that's true. Still, pointer tossed your way, for your smutty edification.

  1. I for one am impatient for the continuing story as so as possible. Having said that I find that when you take your time and the publish an installment that you feel is ready its outstanding. So while impatient for the story to continue, I will happily wait on you. Just keep writing and the rest of us will happily read it and wait for it.

  2. Neither The Chronicles of Rita nor Delia's Story (or any other story presently on the site) are Gorean in nature. The stories are heavily invested in female slavery and that axiomatically means slave control and punishment. Rita ventures more deeply into the realm of torture than does Delia.

I write Rita and while I read one Gor book years ago (I have them all now, I just haven't gotten to them yet), I can say with certainty that the influence of that book on my writing was negligible. I loved the book however.

While I'm here I have a question. I briefly looked in the site yesterday, looking for chapter 1 of The Adjusters. I didn't find it. Can anyone tell me where it is so that I can read from the beginning?

Thanks for your help. And thanks for the reference to my site, I hope everyone goes there and enjoys the stories.

    1. Oooops, never mind, I clicked on label for The Adjusters and there it was. Don't know why I didn't try that yesterday.

  3. Wow, I'm impressed. Thats a lot of reading in a short time.

Since we opened the blog I've been posting a chapter every two weeks. I was able to maintain that schedule because I had a large inventory of written chapters. I've been writing beyond what I had then, but that supply is running low. I can't produce a chapter in two weeks. So for another few chapters, the answer to your question is "every two weeks". One coming tonight or tomorrow, BTW. After my supply runs out and I'm posting as I finish a chapter, the answer will be "much less frequently."

  4. Was rereading 46 again last night and I must say the second reading was better than the first. I can see why it was hard to write. I am so looking forward to the next installment but also to the continuing story line of adcorp and the program stuff. I wish there was a magic spell I could cast to make the series go faster, just wishful thinking. Just keep up the good work your doing and know there are a lot of fans waiting for you. Some patiently and some not so much. :)

  5. Don't worry, it's coming. I'm just *insanely* slow for reasons that I myself find eminently frustrating...
