New Story: The Adjusters #11

And this being the first weekend of December, we start Book II of The Adjusters: The Greek Fiasco.

THE STORY SO FAR: Daniel Malcolm, college student, has had an interesting Fall semester: he has helped his journalist friend Serena investigate the disappearance of fellow student Marjorie, escaped the demented idea of fun of a neonazi organization with his friend Radhu, and uncovered some odd connections between those events and the Delta Iota Kappa fraternity. He also found the time to explore the kinkier side of his relationship with his girlfriend Jennifer, who is now his fiancee. Oh, and Serena did eventually find Marjorie, but that discovery came at a rather steep price.

The first episode, "DIK Girls", serves as Prologue.

11 - DIK Girls

Early January was unbelievably mild on the campus of Darnell University, the winter having proved to be much warmer than expected. Not only had snow not yet fallen, it was by common understanding light jacket weather. All of which was a pleasant surprise for students coming back from winter break. With classes three days away, everyone was throwing last-minute parties in between scrambling with course registrations, deciphering administrative minutiae, and fighting with University Housing.

At the Delta Iota Kappa fraternity, two young men were stepping into the late morning sun. Jackson Randall, freshman, and Bernard "Bernie" Tilling, junior. Aside from both wearing their frat jackets, they could not have been more different. Jackson, tall and athletic, and Bernie, short and stout, with spectacles giving him an odd intellectual look.

"Okay, Jackson, you've been a brother for a semester now, and the fraternity voted over the break to accept you as a full member. You now have access to all the perks that such a position entails. You know what I'm talking about, right?"

"The dick girls."

"Indeed, the dick girls. Although we try to call them frat girls, or Delta Iota Kappa girls. Seems like the term dick girls has some unfortunate connotations for some people. What do you know about those dick girls?"

Jackson shook his head, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets to keep them warm. It was mild weather, but being born and raised in Florida had a tendency to give you a biased view of any temperature that did not allow you to walk about in swimming trunks. "Not much. Just what a bunch of half-drunk brothers let out at a party before Christmas. Something about a bunch of girls with a special arrangement with us, some kind of deal the prez made to get them to hook up with us with no strings attached or something?"

Bernie nodded. "Not bad, not bad. I mean, pretty off the mark, but you're roughly in the ball park."
