More Blackmail Stories

A friend of mine dropped by a couple of days ago and gave me a copy of the leaked pilot of the planned "Wonder Woman" television series that was not picked up, and it was surprisingly good. I mean, I expected something abysmal, something reboot-of-The-Bionic-Woman terrible, but no, I liked it. That both Adrianne Palicki and Elizabeth Hurley are quite easy on the eye was not overlooked by this particular viewer, let me assure you. This review at iFanboy summarizes my impressions quite nicely.

My smut reading has been tending towards the darker side these last few weeks. Here are a few of the stories that I enjoyed.

First off, Blanco y Negro by W. L. Telford: "One morning a husband has enough and sells his wife to a Panamanian brothel." Nicely written, at least the few parts that have been published, and it's ongoing. Assuming the author sticks with it, this should be a fun one. (Well, yes, I do have ex issues. What? You never picked up on that?) Telford also wrote the great Worlds Apart that I mentioned here.

Next up, two blackmail stories, both somewhat... amateurish... but with some very good scenes and some interesting ideas. From Dawn1958, we have An Email to Jennifer: "Mark and Jennifer were university students who lived together. Mark was like any 21 year old man and seemed to pester Jenn all the time for sex. Jenny dreamed of being a youth counselor and was working at the YMCA during the summer months counselling troubled young offenders. Mark enjoyed taking pictures of the two of them and one day sent some to her at work which turned out to be just what young Justin needed. He wanted to get the upper hand on Jenn and the email did the trick." The dialogue here is a bit hackneyed (okay, okay, a lot), but I like the fact that the poor boyfriend, Mark, gets into it. It's like poor Jenny's getting it from both sides, and that tickles me. Pet peeve: why do writers insist on writing "Gawd" for "God"? I mean, are they worried about offending someone? We're in the middle of a story about a girl blackmailed into nonconsensual sex written entirely to titillate, for Gawd's sake, I think the offense's already been committed...

And from H. Dean, we have Object of Affection: "Albert, a gawky teenager, uses old pictures to blackmail his teacher, Susan Jones, into being his sex slave." I love these teacher-blackmailed-by-student stories, I don't know why. Maybe because I keep thinking of a particularly hot teacher I had when I was younger. In any event, this one is not the best written story, but it has enthusiasm to spare. Although you do feel like slapping our heroine (?) Suzie around a bit, because she is rather thick at times.

As usual, if you come across anything like the above and want to share, leave a comment, and the legions will follow and read.

And Just Like That I Seem to be Back

Well, that was a long hiatus. Between a bit of depression and some traveling, my posting went the way of the dodo there, in June. Thanks for your patience, everyone. Posting is likely to be a bit more sporadic than usual for the next few months, but I'll try to maintain as much continuity as I can.

I'm happy to report I've kept writing throughout the period -- which is what y'all care about right? I've started writing the final act of Book II, and it's congealing nicely. I've had the general picture in my head for a while now, but there's a difference between knowing where things are going, and the details of how to get there, especially when the characters sometimes want to go somewhere else and I have to listen to them because frankly, they know a lot better than I do.

Let me leave you with a goodie that I've run across a couple of days ago. It's a mind-control story by Samslam called Neuro Submission Transmitter: "He controls his sister, mother, neighbor, and a stranger." (That's the description of the first part, of a total of five.) It's a pretty straightforward story at first -- boy finds a doodad that lets him control the minds of people around him -- but there are a few twists as the story progresses. And the sex is hot. As the description suggests, there are some rather strong incest themes there, but nothing especially icky.

I wish I could write something like that: breezy, tongue-in-cheek, people going around having great sex. But I can't. Oh, I tried. But pretty soon, whenever I've tried, someone gets some dark idea and things start going downhill for someone else, and conflict arises, and people get hurt and people get abused and some come out as heroes and others come out as villains and yes, there is great sex, but what is great sex for someone is boring or reprehensible or disgusting to someone else. It's just the way my brain is wired, I guess. I love to read the stuff. I just can't produce it.

New Story: The Adjusters #18

A few days late due to some more adventurous July 4th travel than I would have liked, but fear not, as here is July's episode of The Adjusters, "A Day in the Life (I)", wherein we discover what it is like to be a Delta Iota Kappa girl.

As usual, comments welcome.

I'll also remind you that we have a Speculation Thread available for discussion. (A thread which I read but do not comment on.)

18 - A Day in the Life (I)

The light of the new day snuck its way into Cindy Caprese's bedroom
through the curtains and woke her up. Filtered through the orange
material, the morning sunlight acquired the warm and welcoming hue
that never failed to put a smile on the blonde girl's face.

She stretched like a cat, basking in that magical moment when her mind
was emerging slowly from slumber. She glanced at the clock. A touch
past seven. She had nothing planned until eleven, so nothing conspired
to make her miss her appreciation of the morning.

There were faint whispers and giggles from the other side of the wall
to her right. Cindy listened a few moments, then grinned. Her roommate
Melinda had her boyfriend, Chris, over the previous evening, and from
the sound of it must have spent the night. Cindy had fallen asleep to
the sounds of their coupling, and she was ready to bet that she was
fated to wake up in the same manner.

Next month, episode 19: "A Day in the Life (II)".
