New Story: The Adjusters #26

Here is March's installment of The Adjusters, “Actions and Consequences”, wherein some stakes are raised in the lead-in to the great DIK-Bash, and old traumas return.

As usual, comments welcome.

I'll also remind you that we have a Speculation Thread available for discussion. (A thread which I read but do not comment on.)

The Adjusters #26 - Actions and Consequences

Kevin Cusker was pissed. And when the president of the Delta Iota
Kappa fraternity was pissed, someone paid for it.

"Faster, bitch--" and he slapped her ass, hard, "or I'm going to send
you off to service the hobos at the soup kitchen tonight. I remember
how much you enjoyed it last time."

Patricia Temple--Trish to her friends--Darnell Mountain Lions
cheerleader and until recently strictly religious and saving herself
for marriage, moaned loudly and picked up speed on top of Kevin's

  1. I love how you research subjects that you write about, hacking thing will surely go over the heads of people that are not familiar with that territory :)

Greatly enjoyed Trish scene. Is she ever goes around without being activated?

Also a dream scene is all too obvious at the beginning - no ring check!

    1. Calling it research might be a bit generous, but thanks for the sentiment! As I told a reader once, I know just enough to be a danger to myself and others...

Glad you liked the Trish scene. And she's not always activated. When she isn't, she forgets, like everyone else.

The dream scene was sort of meant to be obvious. If the ring didn't give it away, the fact that the whole scene is in a different verb tense than the rest of the story would have.
