Here is February's episode of The Adjusters, “Doctor Cargyle”, wherein we and some of our characters cross paths with the elusive Doctor Thaddeus Cargyle.
As usual, comments welcome.
I'll also remind you that we have a Speculation Thread available for discussion. (A thread which I read but do not comment on.)
The Adjusters #25 - Doctor Cargyle
Daniel sat in silence and watched a still shaky Jackson down his
fourth beer and wipe his mouth with the back of his hand. The boy
looked last, unable to focus on anything. Daniel stole a glance at
Cindy, who was sitting next to him, quiet and unfazed and looking at
Jackson with a mixture of pity and resolve in her eyes. What is going
on in that head of hers, he wondered, not for the first time.
"How could she?" mumbled Jackson, lifting a hand to get the attention
of their waitress. Around them, the buzz of the Saturday night crowd
could still be felt, even though they were not in the most popular bar
of the area.
"I think you know full well how she could," answered Daniel, his eyes
boring into Jackson's.
"I don't know what--"
Daniel sighed. "Jackson, cut the act. Cindy told me everything. And
between that and what Rad and I figured out, the picture's pretty
clear--your frat snatched girls and did something to them so that you
could use them without the girls remembering a thing afterwards. Cindy
here was such a--well, a sex slave, frankly. Kyra is one. And Biff
made Jenn into one. "

Next month, episode 25: “Actions and Consequences”.
Hah, almost female version of agent Denton. Just missing couple of nano augmentations %)
ReplyDeleteAgent Denton's not in my repertoire, sadly. A quick search suggests you're talking about the Deus Ex main character? Never played that game. (I know... I know...)
DeleteJust curious, how did it reminds you of Shawbank?
Major Badass, stealthy, careful, deadly, hacky, capable, intimidating, there is alot of features shared, really. Also alot of good dialogue in that game.
Deletetypos:
ReplyDeletesecond sentence first paragraph: "The boy looked last unable to focus"- probably should be looked lost
"Brad marveled at how her breasts giggled beneath her shirt as she jerked"- should probably be jiggled
here are my thoughts.
the dinner scene:
1) jackson had a bit of a guilt trip
2) cindy is very insightful especially into Biff, Marjorie and her surrounding She notices things, but also admits that playing a ditz is useful-after all she found out about Marjorie and was able to conclude thats how Jenn is being controlled. Daniel pays more attention than before- not a shock.
Biff's: What hot smut!
1) Love how Jennie knows to tease Biff's guest. And Biff knows how to tease Jennie.
2) loved the promises, promises line from Jenn.
3) Think Biff is more "in love" with his ability to control Jenn, Kyra, and even the frat it seems. Biff must have good sources. Maybe DIKbash is where the big overthrow Kevin movement will occur. Kevin's controlling nature might bite him in the ass. Wonder what he will do. Not that Biff is different in terms of wanting control- is that the reason Biff is mad at Kevin or is it due to Kevin forcing Biff away. Biff doesn't yet know that Bernie is dead and the doctor died in this episode. Can't program girls without them.
4) Nils-remember him- was Kevin's go to guy. Might be really helpful to neutralize him.
5) Jenn really understands peoples kinks (e.g. Kyra and Brad).
Abandoned building
1) nice to get the laptop- better hope there's info hidden- especially this formula
2) clearly not the FBI....but some organization or government. Wonder who they are? what is their ultimate plan?
3) interesting that its difficult to reverse the adjusting process. Maybe some long term damage/still small parts of being adjusted are going to be on the girls- especially special cases like Jenn
4) clearly Daniel will be at DIKbask- but will he fix Jenn in this book? or maybe it will be book 3?
Nice analysis, to which I can barely comment without spoiling. But I'm glad you found the middle scene hot. Took some work to find the smut in this rather plot-heavy episode...

ReplyDeleteLove mets analysis. Will have more comments later, probably post them in the MC form. Also loved the sex scene between Kyra and Brad. Something about an untriggered submissive being lead on a leash is a real turn on for me.
Looking forward to your comments, danny123.
Deleteforgot a couple points.
ReplyDelete1) shawbanks definition of clean up might not be good for Daniel
2) people who can deprogram girls keep dying so who will do it
3) shawbank/organization needs to be discovered more- but that might happen in a future book
4) as a result of those- i think it owuld be hard to deprogram them by chap 30.
look forward to reading danny123's analysis.
"people who can deprogram girls keep dying so who will do it" — you picked up on that, didn't you? Yeah, that might be a problem later...
