Heartbeat

Writing Journal: Still writing on that undisclosed project. And making lots of notes for Book III of The Adjusters. Which should not be a long one—nowhere close to Book II, that's for sure—but needs to lay the foundations for subsequent books. Oh, and editing #27, of course. I'm traveling Sunday, so that installment may go out later than usual, for which I beg your forgiveness in advance.

Heartbeat, as in heartbeat mechanism in high-availability distributed systems, and not the earbleed-inducing 80's song by Don Johnson. As in—yup, I'm still here, still alive, still going. I've just been busy in RL, and that has cut down on my smut reading, or anything smut related, really. Which sucks, but one has to eat, does one not?

This also means that posts may be rather infrequent in April. With luck, things will calm down after that, and I can go back to pointing you to rousing tales of unbridled lust.

In the meantime, here's this week WTF: The Epic Battle for Wikipedia's Autofellatio Page. Those folks make me look normal, for which I thank them.

New Chapter of Callie's Downfall

Writing Journal: I was on the road last weekend—hence the lack of weekend post—and ended up writing a couple thousand words longhand. Been a while I haven't done the longhand thing. Which is funny, since less than a year ago, I was pointing out that I couldn't write on a computer directly. I reprogrammed myself maybe six months ago, and it's been working surprising well. On a different note, I think I'll be able to reveal that sekrit project I've been banging on soon. I don't know why I'm procrastinating on the reveal. I think it's some kind of superstitious bullshit.

This morning, I woke up to a new chapter of Callie's Downfall, by Minty, over at Storiesonline. Still a good story. I've talked about this story before.

A Story by Alison Richards

Writing Journal: Bleh. I think seasonal affective disorder is hitting, hard. Getting through the day feels a bit like swimming in molasses. (I suppose... never actually swam in molasses, to be honest.) Still writing my bit daily, although of course given my mood everything sorta looks like crap.

Just a single story today, but a doozy of a long one—Alison Richards's Alison's Story: “A mature, respectable young mother and teacher reflects on her youth, when as a firebrand feminist she is taunted into becoming submissive.” Pretty much as the synopsis says. Decently written, with some very good scenes. Nothing particularly original in the humiliations involved, but that the protagonist is a strong submissive who gradually accepts that she gets off hard on being humiliated, much to her initial dismay, is hot.

Stories by Caesar

Writing Journal: Slow week. Little writing done. Mostly trying to structure my current story, trying to reign it in and keep it from turning it into a 200,000 words epic, while pondering Book III of The Adjusters.

I didn't have much time to prepare a post this weekend, so I'll just point you all to a smut author that some of you probably already know, Caesar, with a cache of good stories that go back at least a decade. There's a lot there, so check out his index file for some guidance.

Mind-control fans undoubtedly know Caesar best for his story The Sweet Smell of Lust: “A young man's lab experiment gets some interesting results.” And by interesting results, you can bet that it includes driving women mad with lust. It's a long story, with a great premise, and some interesting directions. Incest aplenty, though, as our young man's first victims include members of his immediate family. The version on Caesar's site is longer, including a final part not present at the EMCSA. You can read the whole thing here, in five parts: Young Man's Experiment, Start Of A Dynasty, Struggle For Power, New Generation, and Final Struggle.

Many of Caesar's stories involve either incest or cheating spouses, and sometimes involve mind control—more often than note in service of either incest or cheating spouses! Along those lines, you should check out She Is Mine And I Want Her Back: “Realizing that his wife is cheating on him with her own son and that his son is using some kind of drug to turn his mother into his sex slave, he wants her back.” And also Little Taste Of Me: “With but a taste of his seed, his wife and his sister-in-law do everything he asks.”

Straight up incest, with a twist—Is She The Slut I Told Her She Was?: “Years before, he comes upon his buddy with a masked, bound and freshly-fucked woman whom he enjoys as well - he discovers her identity accidentally.”

Although my personal favorite is probably The News Business: “When a news reporter discovers that she is about to be replaced with a newer version, she decides to convince her boss otherwise.” Sweet, sweet, sweet.

PayPal Flexes Its Muscles

Writing Journal: Still not much to report. Writing away. I almost—almost!—had one of my characters use a gopher client in the story. Remember gopher? Yeah, didn't think so. Yeah, I'm old. Or maybe just scarily well versed in networking arcana of eons past.

One big story on the intertubes in the last couple of weeks—aside from Rush Limbaugh making an ass of himself—was PayPal's threat to stop processing money for outlets that sell ebooks with what the company considers unacceptable sexual activities: bestiality, rape-for-titillation, incest, and underage sex. One of the main targets seems to be Smashwords.

Whatever you personally think about any of those activities in real life, that they be banned in fiction—you know, that stuff that uses what we call imagination?—should make you shake your head. I certainly shook mine. Once more into the breach.

And writers have been reacting exactly the way you would expect them to react. Rather than repeat the arguments, which are the arguments one must always go back to whenever a form of censorship raises its ugly head—I know, this is not actually censorship since it is not state-imposed, but it comes from a monopolistic provider that wields a de facto unique power to curtail access to a service, something that ends up being the equivalent of censorship until we can figure out a way to get multiple on-line payment processors and get some market choice—I will point out to a couple of well-scribed posts on the topic:

Eden Connor has an interesting series of posts on her blog where she interviews authors that had their books banned, or might have their books banned. It's all worth reading, if only to get different perspectives on why we write, and why we read, smut. Surprise surprise, oftentimes, it's more than about just getting off, even when we read to get off.

Story-wise, I will leave you with an oldie but goodie mind-control ditty, one that would probably run afoul of PayPal's criteria—because after all, what is less consensual than mind-controlling your way into getting sex from someone? It's by Moliere, and has the amazing title The Effect of DNA Matched Pheromones on Female Sociosexual Behaviors (and also part 2): “Frank Connors synthesizes pheromones that heighten sexual response in women, and tests out his research on unsuspecting lab subjects.” The first chapter is mostly written as letters from lab subjects, which is a nice touch. Overall, a well-developed story, with some hot scenes. The intro text suggests that the story goes on past the second chapter, but I've never been able to find anything else. If you know anything, please post a pointer in the comments.

Weekend Random Links

Writing Journal: Nothing much to report. Writing away. The Adjusters #26 seems to have been well received, which of course pleases me to no end. Thanks for reading, folks, and for letting me know how you feel.

I don't remember exactly when I first heard the song A Lap Dance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying by Bloodhound Gang, but it vies for the category of so bad it's good. I mean, come on! You have to at least applaud the utter bad taste of it all...

I learned a new term last week, via Sociological Images: hegemonic masculinity. That's where even though we live in a patriarchy with all the fun that that particular system entails, you are still screwed if you're not just the right kind of male.

The good folks at The Groovy Age of Horror provide us with another translation of an Italian fumetto, Terror Blue #131: Betty Boswell.

An interesting article by David Szalay discussing sexual vocabulary in (I believe) mainstream fiction. Similar problems occur in smut fiction, of course.

Forget his ability on the court—you know Jeremy Lin's the real thing when he shows up in porn.

That's all I got for this week. Rather slim pickings, I know. I'll leave you with a story I ran across at BDSM Library, Sanjna’s Mistake by Exbiidelhi2012: “An accountant pays for her mistake, becomes a plaything for any who wants.” A rather standard blackmail story, with some hot moments and some interesting bits here and there. I like the multiplication of independent people taking advantage of her ordeal. Worth a look if that's your kind of thing. And it looks like it's ongoing.

UPDATE: A commenter points out that this story by Exbiidelhi2012 is in fact plagiarized word for word (aside from changing the name of the protagonist) from a story by GrantLee called Julie's Mistake. Go read that one instead, which has the added benefit of being—as far as I can tell—complete.

New Story: The Adjusters #26

Here is March's installment of The Adjusters, “Actions and Consequences”, wherein some stakes are raised in the lead-in to the great DIK-Bash, and old traumas return.

As usual, comments welcome.

I'll also remind you that we have a Speculation Thread available for discussion. (A thread which I read but do not comment on.)

The Adjusters #26 - Actions and Consequences

Kevin Cusker was pissed. And when the president of the Delta Iota
Kappa fraternity was pissed, someone paid for it.

"Faster, bitch--" and he slapped her ass, hard, "or I'm going to send
you off to service the hobos at the soup kitchen tonight. I remember
how much you enjoyed it last time."

Patricia Temple--Trish to her friends--Darnell Mountain Lions
cheerleader and until recently strictly religious and saving herself
for marriage, moaned loudly and picked up speed on top of Kevin's
reclining body. She was straddling him, holding his cock inside her
and shifting her hips back and forth, rubbing the hard shaft from
inside, massaging it rhythmically with her inner muscles. Her thin
silk slip, midnight black to contrast with her pale skin and blonde
hair, clung to her body like a second skin, and did nothing to prevent
her large breasts from swaying enticingly underneath the thin
material, itself already soaked from the drool that had leaked out
during the earlier prolonged deep-throating session Kevin had
subjected her to. That he had already come down her throat not half an
hour earlier ensured that it would take a while for her to bring him
off again. And Kevin enjoyed making her work for it.
