Here is March's installment of The Adjusters, “Cassandra's Plan”, wherein Jenn and Sanderson regroup following their discovery and find an ally.
As usual, comments welcome.
I'll also remind you that we have a Speculation Thread available for general discussion. (A thread which I read but do not comment on.)
The Adjusters #49 - Cassandra's Plan
Richard Sanderson, despite having experienced it once before, still could not get used to the alienating feeling. He was back at work, two days after Gutierrez’s party, and just like after the first party he had attended, everyone was acting completely normal, as if nothing had happened at all.
But something had happened.
Sanderson had gone to the party, and had caught up with Gutierrez. Even though he was there to help Jennie escape, Sanderson had tried to act as normally as possible. Gutierrez had been happy to see him, and had reminded him of Sanderson’s promise to get Jennie back under sedation in exchange for having a free pass at the redhead patient Allison.
Sanderson was in fact not interested in Allison at all, but that had been his cover story for the party, and so he had said and done what Gutierrez expected of him. Gutierrez even offered him a blow job from Allison when she was done with her male friends, as he called them, a blow job that did arouse a primitive part of Sanderson—Allison, as Sanderson knew first hand, had an astonishingly skilled mouth—but that he did manage to get out of because Gutierrez had been distracted for most of the night.
When Sanderson had gone to find Jennie where they had arranged to meet, she was there but with disturbing news. Gutierrez, whom Sanderson thought wanted to sell Jennie, was in fact scheming to sell Mouse to some people she had pissed off during her previous job as a district attorney, or so Jennie claimed to have overheard Gutierrez discuss with a man.

Next month: “Awry”.
Thanks for your patience, everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis one could have probably used another editing pass, but it'll do for now.
I wounder if girls would attain enlightenment if given logically impossible tasks by special. Like ones from some zen practices: "We know the sound of two hands clapping, now show me the sound of one hand clapping"
ReplyDeleteAh, interesting thought. It probably depends on the girl how she'd react to that, and the strength of the Special. Then again, that may just break the girl...

ReplyDeleteIf this seems to ramble, etc., it is just that I’ve been really busy and wanted to at least comment before the next installment. So the plot is set. Jennie is the bait and Allison’s work will allow them to film and/or broadcast it. The secondary circuit is really interesting. Who is receiving the feed? We may find out in the next installment. It seems the Connelly brothers keep coming up, which leads me to believe that they may the link that ties "Jenn and Daniel back together. I am curious about the story that Jenn sent out and what clues it may have contained. I was surprised that Jenn let Cassandra dominate her in the sex scene given that Jenn had totally dominated Cassandra in the last one. We now see that Cassandra is somewhat submissive to Jenn. Thank you for giving the back story about Mouse. There is so many ways the trap can go wrong that it makes the installment ever so interesting. Well Daniel’s friend, her name escapes me, also read the next installment. Curious to know if she is really innocent or a plant by ADCorp. This is one of the reasons I love this tale, the many routes it can take before reaching the end. Even the “end” is opened to speculation. Looking forward to “Awry”.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
ReplyDeleteJudd, glad the installments flow. It's sometimes hard to tell from deep within the story, and these last few ones haven't had quite enough time to simmer before being pushed out. I really need to fix that.
Danny123, nice summary, as usual. And yes, the Connelly brothers do have a tendency to come up, don't they? How they fit in the big picture (actually, what *is* the big picture) is something I'm going to have to start hashing out in Book V.
“I am curious about the story that Jenn sent out and what clues it may have contained.” — that was “Charlie and the Convent of Oblivion”. And many of the deviations between that story and what is happening now come from the fact that she sent in the story before she knew quite how it should end.
“I was surprised that Jenn let Cassandra dominate her in the sex scene given that Jenn had totally dominated Cassandra in the last one.” — yes, that gets confusing. When Jenn dominated Cassandra, she was under partial meds, meaning that she didn't have such great control over her “Jennie” side. And her Jennie side picked up on the fact that Cassandra really craves being dominated, and jumped on it. In this one, Jenn's under full meds, so she's more subdued and controlled. And almost getting turned on despite herself. And man, those are subtleties that are tough to convey!
We'll find out about the secondary circuit soon enough.
