Happy New Year everyone! I've finally discharged all my New Year responsibilities, and I'm sick as a dog. So there may be more errors in this month's episode than usual. Blame it on the medication, and I'll try to correct the most egregious ones when I notice them.
So finally, here is January's episode of The Adjusters, "Jennifer Hansen", wherein an old threat is put into motion.
As usual, comments welcome.
12 - Jennifer Hansen
"So what you're saying, then, is that you haven't gone out since we left for the holidays?" Daniel Malcolm looked at his friend like he had said that he was now subsisting on a diet of crushed glass.
Radhu Krishnamurthy, the friend in question, looked up from his computer keyboard, and nodded. "It so happens that most modern conveniences can be interfaced with remotely -- sustenance, laundry, scholarly pursuits --"
"What about classes? I mean, don't you have to, you know, go in and attend?"
"I signed up for the preliminary trial deployment of the online program in mathematical physics. The administration was pleased enough with my volunteering to provide me with some leeway in terms of course scheduling."
Daniel shook his head. "You're nuts! I get stir crazy if I don't leave my apartment after a day."
"Then accept this fact as further evidence that you and I are distinct individuals."

Wow, very, very hot. I'm not waiting to see what happens when Biff calls. Any hints for eager readers? ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd feel better! Thanks for a great installment.
oh loving this! makes me curious how they got to jenn tho.
ReplyDeleteand the bad side would be the long wait till febuary. sigh
What if Biff dies before give another order?
ReplyDeleteOr Daniel breaks the bracelet?
Will Jenn get free?
amazing chapter....keep up the good work...gonna find it hard to wait till feb
ReplyDelete"Or Daniel breaks the bracelet?
ReplyDeleteWill Jenn get free?"
that is what I'm wondering.
I find it Infuriating, how clueless this Daniel guy is about ongoing events. Everything is clear as day, yet he allows Biff to finish his binding mantra and refrain from any argumets with his girl. I would at least have snapped pictures or recorded a video of ongoing cheat with my cellphone, almost every cellphone has camera nowdays, right?
ReplyDeletefor us readers, its easy to see the whole picture. From Daniel its not that clear. i mean finding the love of your life sucking off some guy she hate is hard to understand. But I do agree why cant he snap a picture of it is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteoh I do love Jenn
Thanks for the comments, everyone. Glad to know some people are reading my scribblings. Some comments are quite on the mark and call for some response on my part, so let me address them in my next post.
ReplyDelete(As a rule, I'm never sure whether to respond in the comments or in a post. Guess eventually I'll figure out a suitable response mechanism.)
i have to say i almost want to not read the story for a couple months (not b/c i don't like it), but when I read I want to read several chapters at a time. Your an excellent writer. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know exactly how you feel about liking to read several chapters at once rather than waiting for them to come out one at a time. One of my favorite stories on StoriesOnline, "Callie's Downfall", comes out with a chapter every 2 or 3 months, and it's sheer torture...
rereading this chapter i have to ask. The events where dainel watches biff fuck then pretty much enslave Jen is that a dream.
ReplyDeleteThe drug was mildly hallucinogenic, but the core events did happen. (He may have just overheard them in the next room, and not seen them. The way your brain will sometimes take stuff that happens in real life while you're sleeping like an alarm clock buzzing and incorporate it in your dreams as a shrieking harpy pouncing on you as you're making sweet love to literally the girl of your dreams. Or maybe that's just me...)
ReplyDeleteBy the way: the version on the EMCSA is the most recent one. (The one linked here has not been updated yet to reflect changes.)
